As internet connections become faster, with even cell phones capable of downloading data-heavy websites at lightning fast speeds, the use of texture in web design has become more commonplace.
As our previous post focusing on kraft paper business cards was a huge hit, we’ve decided to keep the focus on paper. Despite our increased use of digital media, we just can’t seem to let go of the look & feel that paper can lend to a project. So we’ve combed the web and pulled together a selection of free paper texture packs as well as a choice selection of single paper textures that we like best. Just remember, a little texture goes a long way. Use these sparingly and they will delight, but use too many and your project will look as messy as, well, a disorganized stack of paper.
Many of the files are suitable for both digital and print use, with low-resolution & high-resolution versions included. If you do plan to use any of these free paper texture packs in a project, be sure to read the individual usage guidelines.
Free Paper Texture Packs
Below is a selection of texture packs for all the paper lovers out there. Click on the pictures to download individual files.

Free Paper Textures from Plaintextures.com
I encourage everyone to check out Plaintextures. Not only do they offer a huge selection of paper textures, they have a massive library of many other free textures including gravel, metal, leaves & concrete to name a few. They are all well categorized by type, and broken down further into sub-categories. Most of the textures I looked at were offered in three download sizes, lower-resolution options for digital and very hi-res options for print work.
